Spotlight On Harvey Park

Another one of my favorite neighborhoods, Harvey Park is located in Southwest Denver between Hampden and Jewell, Lowell and Sheridan.  I’ve lived here  for three years now and really enjoy the mix of young families and very long term residents, the beautiful park (beware of goose poop lol) with a lake, and the rec center.  It has the quiet feeling of the suburbs but is only 15 minutes to downtown.  The sub-division  blossomed in the 1940s/50s with 4,000 homes built in less than 3 years at one point.  There’s a mix of brick ranches, simple 1940s “bungalows”, and the coveted Cliff May mid-century modern homes; the post-war “dream home” that is enjoying a resurgence among architectureand “retro”  fans.  Current active listings range from $275k to $1.7 million, (but prices are more accurately reflected by the median price of $330k).  The HP Improvement Association helps organize a Green Festival (May), Summer Festival  (July), and community garage sale (June), as well as sponsoring an annual scholarship for college bound high school students from the area.
