Spotlight On Uptown

One of Denver’s “hippest” and liveliest neighborhoods, Uptown lies just east of downtown between Broadway and Downing, Colfax and 23rd.  You may be familiar with it from a trip to Restaurant Row on 17th which has a great variety of pubs, bistros, cafes and LGBT-friendly bars.  The architectural styles here are very diverse, with old Victorians next to newly built loft apartments/condos and everything in between.  Three major medical facilities in the neighborhood which employ over 10,000 people (Presbyterian/St Lukes, St Josephs and Kaiser) and close proximity to downtown and City Park have contributed to high housing prices here, with current condo listings from 140k (for a whopping 346 square feet) to 1.6 million (median price 385k).  Single family home sales are harder to find, with recent sales ranging from 439k to 2.9 million.  What you save on transportation could help though, with a walk score of 90 and plenty of B-cycle stations you can definitely get by without a car.  Finish your day with a stroll down Colfax for dinner and some “live entertainment” then catch some music or roller derby at the Fillmore for a full Uptown experience.
