Breakfast...it is THE most important meal of the day. Without breakfast to power through the morning, the body lacks the energy it needs to be effective during the most productive hours. Sometimes some fruit and a bowl of cereal from home will do the trick, and occasionally it is nice to go out and sit down with family or friends to start your day. Often there are days on which something a little heartier is desired but time does not provide the opportunity to sit down to breakfast (and fast-food is a no-no). Those are the days which prompt a search for local eateries with speedy take-out options...and COFFEE! I am always seeking to discover new experiences. I want to introduce you to my workplace favorite, Hi*Rise.
Located at Larimer and 22nd, Hi*Rise is just blocks away from Coors Field and a
quick walk to the 16th Street Mall and Union Station. Behind an understated red brick façade and floor-to-ceiling windows with glowing neon lights, visitors are enchanted by the aroma of fresh baked goods, brewing coffee and sizzling eggs and breakfast meats. Ascend the ramp to the counter and be welcomed by the friendly staff member, ready to feed the next hungry customer. Featuring bagels made from scratch daily, house-made egg patties, and a hot skillet ready to cook up the next sandwich, it is one of the freshest bakery/coffee shop breakfasts one will encounter. Before placing an order be sure and browse the "day-old" bagged bagels, breads and other baked offerings to take home with you. There are many menu items to choose from, as well as a Build-Your-Own-Bagel option. One of my absolute favorite items is the Steak and Egg sandwich.
Piled high with sliced beef, a fresh egg patty, American cheese, and Bloody Mary cream cheese (virgin, of course), the Steak & Egg is a Diner breakfast stacked sandwich style. Served up on a toasted Everything Bagel (or any other bagel on the menu), you will hang on to every bite until you are left licking the crumbs from it's wrapper. My favorite twist is subbing horseradish cream cheese for a hint of spice. If you are looking for something simple, try the savory Jersey Breakfast. Thin sliced Taylor Pork Roll layered on a plain bagel with egg, American cheese, and ketchup if you want it. Ketchup you ask? The sweet tomato balances the salty pork, and the melted cheese brings it all together for a flavor combination straight out of the Garden State.
If the downtown lifestyle sounds enjoyable, consider living it! With endless bars, dining options, and easy access to public transportation, this neighborhood has everything a city dweller needs within walking (or cycling) distance. Take a look at some highlights*:

"When I decided to sell my home and look for a new place, my first call was to Jim and Ion Real Estate. He listed my condo and in two short weeks my place was under contract. Now, the real fun began, looking for a new place! The Ion Real Estate website was great. I loved the map function and the emails it sent with new listings that matched my previous searches. On Saturday, Jim and I headed out to look at several places I had picked to see. At the time I didn’t really notice how he listened carefully to everything I said about each place from the lighting to the layout. I was even a little sad that I didn’t find anything that day but Jim reassured me not to worry and a week later he had set up some more appointments. I still remember walking into my new place and just knowing. I had only taken two steps into it and I knew I wanted it.
Next came the easy part for me, but this is where having the right realtor and mortgage broker is essential. They make it seem easy! Jim guided me through all the aspects of my sale and purchase. I appreciated how simple each step seemed from making an offer to dealing with inspections. Even the loan seemed easy. I asked a ton of questions, I think it’s the teacher in me. I wanted to understand all the moving parts. Jim explained everything so clearly that I joked that he missed his calling and should have been a teacher, but he didn’t, I’m glad he is helping people find their homes!
Recently one of my close friends mentioned she wanted to stop renting and buy. I immediately referred her to Ion Real Estate. This time I was able to watch with an outsider perspective at the way Jim cued in on my friend’s preferences. Stephanie kept talking about the charm of old houses, a far cry from the sleek modern condo I chose. By the second house-hunting excursion, Jim knew just which home she would pick. As we walked up to the front porch, I saw Stephanie with the same excitement I had felt just a few months earlier. I watched her mentally move in her furniture and this time I saw the smile that crossed over Jim’s face when he knew Stephanie had found her home.
Throughout both experiences, it was clear Jim understands what people want in their homes and how to structure the entire buying experience to be a positive one. I have heard so many crazy stories from people that didn’t chose the right realtor or mortgage broker. They always start by saying, “I didn’t think a realtor made any difference.” It makes a difference! It made a difference for me and for Stephanie. Owning is better than renting; and, it is even better when Jim and Ion Real Estate are guiding you through the process!
